Today, I said goodbye to a dear friend, Fischer, whose friendship has been a wonderful journey. He was the very first friend I made when I arrived in Uganda. I remember feeling stressed about setting up my business and overwhelmed by the paradigm shift of living in Uganda, so I took a trip to Jinja to visit the Source of the Nile and take a break.
As I approached the edge of Lake Victoria, I noticed a German man sitting quietly and smiling at me. He introduced himself as Hans Martin Fischer and had been living in Uganda for some time. He recently acquired a piece of land from a local and was sitting on it, which eventually became Kingfisher Safari Resort - one of the most sought-after resorts in Uganda.
He married a beautiful Ugandan woman and had four wonderful children. Fischer's amusing anecdote was that he acquired the land by writing off a loan and exchanging his car with the debtor, leaving behind a legacy not only in the resort's name but in the lives he touched.

Fischer, you lived a full life and thank you so much for being there for me. Rest well and till we meet again.
