As mentioned earlier, I sometimes like to look back at old photos from my time in Africa. This particular photo was taken in 2014 at Lake Muhazi in Rwanda.

This photo was captured during the last days of Yang's life, as he had been diagnosed with kidney failure and required daily dialysis. I made sure to spend as much time with him as possible during this difficult period.
Despite his weakened state, Yang would always try to jump into the car whenever I opened the back door, although he would often slip and fall. I would gently lift him up and reassure him with the words, "it's okay, let daddy help you".
Together, we would go on long drives, with Yang sitting beside me in the front seat and listening intently as I talked to him. He was more than just a pet - he was my closest friend in Africa. As I write this, tears come to my eyes at the memory of him, and how much I miss him.
