My Honey Boutique In Uganda.

When we began our honey venture in Uganda, we made a deliberate choice not to become just another honey supplier vending products to supermarkets. Instead, we opted for the gift industry. We established a petite store named My Honey Boutique, which was a novel concept to Ugandans.

They were intrigued as to why our shop was distinct from the others, given our use of the term "Boutique." Nevertheless, we were unconcerned about whether our decision was right or wrong, as it ultimately generated business for us. We took the risk of being unconventional. As word of our store spread, it piqued the curiosity of many. They were astonished by our creativity.

The size of our shop was just slightly larger than a 5-room HDB master bedroom, but we didn't need a lot of space. Our focus was on offering simple yet beautifully packaged honey and beeswax candles, along with tasteful decor.

Customers were fascinated by the jar that we had on display, not realizing that it was just a simple DIY project using a broomstick with the brush part inserted into the jar. :P

Our main customers were high net-worth Ugandans who were in search of unique gift items.

Our best-selling product was the "Honey in a Hut" gift set, which we launched on Valentine's Day in 2005. The product's unique selling point was the catchy phrase, "Honey in a hut for the honey of my heart". The gift set featured an African-style hut, inside of which was a jar of our delicious honey. It became an evergreen product, with Ugandans returning each year to purchase and place orders for Valentine's Day.

The "Honey in a Basket" gift pack was also a customer favorite. This product was sold at the duty-free shop located at Uganda's international airport.

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.

The world was our oyster.
