I spent the weekend taking care of a one-month-old stray puppy from SPCA. No one else was available to care for him, so I brought him home to nurse and clean his wound.

Despite the hardships he's faced, this young boy is incredibly lovable. He lost both parents at just one month old and was rescued, as his mother was nowhere to be found. Thankfully, I didn't have to witness the worst of his condition, as I heard that his wounds were infested with maggots. Nonetheless, I consider him lucky to have been rescued and given a chance at a better life.

Maggot has a gentle and quiet demeanor, and he didn't cause me any trouble as he slept throughout the day. Given his time on the streets and the effort he put into fending for himself, it's no wonder he seemed exhausted. It's admirable that he was able to persevere through the pain he must have experienced.

At first, Maggot was quite wary of me and didn't feel comfortable enough to let his guard down. He spent the whole day hiding under my sofa, hesitant to relax or come out into the open.

After some time, Maggot's exhaustion got the best of him and he finally allowed himself to relax. Although he initially kept his eyes open, he eventually drifted off to sleep. However, his slumber was not entirely peaceful, as he would occasionally whimper in his sleep, suggesting that he was having nightmares. I could only imagine how stressful his days must have been, and my heart went out to him.

By Sunday morning, Maggot seemed to have become much more comfortable around me. He started to explore the house more freely and even exhibited a more playful, puppy-like energy.

It was heartening to see Maggot biting on the towel, as it was a sign that he was starting to feel at ease and secure in his new environment.
Unlike some fortunate puppies who are born into loving homes, Maggot was not so lucky. He was a street puppy, but despite his difficult circumstances, he remained innocent and deserving of the same opportunities as any other puppy.
