As a beekeeper, I have had the opportunity to travel to various places, learn fascinating techniques, and work with different species of honeybees. Most importantly, I have had the privilege of meeting beekeepers from different countries.
In Shenzhen, China, beekeepers who keep apis cerana face a significant threat from hornets. The hornet population poses a grave danger to their livelihoods as they attack and feed on their honeybees.
Curious about how they address this problem, I took a flight to Shenzhen to understand their methods. Here is what I discovered: they follow the foraging hornets back to their nest using a white cloth tied to them for easy identification.
Beekeeping, a day to learn but a lifetime to master.
